Profile & Story
Domaines Landron dates from around 1945, twenty years after the Muscadet Sevre et Maine appellation was created. Jo Landron took over from his father Pierre in the 1990s, grew Domaine de la Louvetrie from 26 to 48 hectares, and converted the estate to organic and biodynamic farming in 1999, since when no chemical pesticide has been used. La Louvetrie is the house cuvee: 100% Melon B. from the domaine's highest parcels, on a plateau of predominantly sandy clay over amphibolite, quartz and gneiss. The grapes are hand-harvested and the wine is left on its lees in the traditional sur lie manner, then bottled without fining.
Tasting Notes
The estate describes it as having the liveliness of a young child with a hint of the maturity of an adolescent, and a fine balance of generosity, fullness and minerality. Ageing potential of two to three years.
Pairing Recommendation
Recommended with the traditional shellfish pairings, and equally with other fish such as salmon and sea bass, and with sushi and sashimi.
