Profile & Story

Joe Swick is a fifth-generation Oregonian who returned home to start his own label in 2013 after years of harvests around the world, and buys from organic, biodynamic and sustainably farmed vineyards in Oregon and Washington. The Flood is a skin-fermented white built from Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Auxerrois and Riesling. Each variety is vinified separately and given about thirty days on the skins, then aged six months in neutral French oak before the blend is assembled. Unfined and unfiltered, with a small sulfur addition at bottling. 12.7% ABV.

Tasting Notes

Cloudy and apricot-coloured, with starfruit, tangerine, orange and peach over a mineral thread. Juicy and tropical on the palate, with light tannin and bright acidity, finishing tangy and dry on a peach aftertaste. Funky, but not too much.

Pairing Recommendation

Suggested with seared fish, roast chicken or Waldorf salad; the producer recommends it chilled with salty chips.
