Profile & Story
Barbichette is the New York label of Cesar Vega and Louisiane Remy, who make natural wine from Finger Lakes fruit. Claro Que Si 2024 is 100% Riesling from Seneca Lake, grown on glacial silt loam with an eastern exposure. The grapes are gently crushed for an overnight maceration, then pressed and settled before spontaneous fermentation with autochthonous yeasts in older oak barrels. The wine is racked and blended, then bottled to finish its fermentation in the bottle, so that the effervescence comes from a single fermentation completed in two places. Bottled unfined, unfiltered and with no added sulfites. 11% ABV; 215 cases produced.
Tasting Notes
Pleasantly yeasty, with savoury notes and hints of lime and ripe yellow peaches. The mousse is fine and refined, and sits well with the wine's subtle fruit. The producer calls it fun and crushable, and asks for it to be served ice cold.
