Bruno Verdi, run by the Verdi/Paolo Verdi family, has farmed in Canneto Pavese, in Lombardy's Oltrepò Pavese, since 1948, and belongs to the Club del Buttafuoco Storico. Their Buttafuoco, produced since 1978, blends Croatina, Barbera, Uva Rara and Ughetta di Canneto. The hand-harvested grapes undergo gentle destemming and crushing, a 6-7 day cold pre-fermentative maceration, then 4-5 days of fermentation with frequent punch-downs to build a concentrated red with good structure and soft tannins.
