Profile & Story

Cappellano dates to the end of 1870, when Giuseppe Cappellano, a pharmacist from Serralunga d'Alba with a shop in Turin, perfected the original Barolo Chinato recipe passed down in the family ever since. It is made by infusing aged estate Barolo with an extract of china calisaya bark, sugar, alcohol and a secret blend of aromatic herbs and spices.

A wine of equilibrium between contrasting flavors, with complex gusto-olfactory character and remarkable persistence.

Capable of the rare feat of pairing with dark chocolate; also enjoyed on its own as a meditation wine.
