'Giunta' is winemaker Daniel Brennan's nouveau-style Malbec, named for his mother's mother Stella Giunta, a 4'10" Sicilian. Brennan had Bridge Pa Malbec (Heretaunga Plains, Hawke's Bay, on silty-loam, free-draining soils) that didn't make the cut for his Decibel Gimblett Gravels bottling; tasting the juicy fruit fresh off ferment, he bottled it as-is. Each block is destemmed, lightly crushed and wild-fermented separately after cold maceration on skins.
