Profile & Story

Myburgh Bros is the small-batch, skin-contact label of Joostenberg Wine Estate in Paarl, South Africa, run by the Myburgh family. 'Kaalgat Steen' ('naked' in Afrikaans) is 100% Chenin Blanc from a sustainable, dry-farmed bushvine vineyard planted in 1982; grapes are hand harvested in batches with varying skin contact (up to 12 days), naturally fermented separately in old oak, then blended and aged in concrete for 5 months.

Tasting Notes

Bruised apple, straw, ginger and hints of kombucha on the nose; light-bodied with surprising textural grip, vibrant acidity, and flavors of citrus and white peach on a dry, refreshing finish.
