Vinhas de Xisto Reserva is produced by Monte da Ravasqueira in the Douro DOC of northern Portugal. The name, meaning Schist Vineyards, reflects the region's distinctive slate and schist soils, which impart pronounced minerality and firm structure. The 2019 is a traditional Douro blend of 40% Touriga Nacional, 30% Touriga Franca, 20% Tinta Roriz and 10% Sousão.
Tasting Notes
Complex aromas of dark plum, blueberries, coffee and dried spices, with herbal and balsamic undertones and hints of vanilla and mint. Full-bodied with ripe, chewy tannins, blue fruit and spice flavors, and a dry, structured finish that rewards further aging.
Pairing Recommendation
Pairs well with fatty meat dishes, roasted beef, lamb, game such as venison, and aged cheeses.
