Cantine Colosi is a family winery founded in 1987 (with roots a generation earlier), with vineyards on the island of Salina in the Aeolian Archipelago and its winemaking/bottling cellar in Giammoro (Messina); the estate is run by oenologist Piero Colosi with his father Pietro. This Nero d'Avola Sicilia DOC is 100% Nero d'Avola from certified-organic, calcareous-soil vineyards near Mazara del Vallo, vinified and aged exclusively in stainless steel to preserve varietal character.
Tasting Notes
Very fruit-forward on the nose, with notes of red berries, fragrant herbs, minerality and spice; the palate shows a fine balance of tannin and acidity, finishing intense and persistent.
Pairing Recommendation
Great with cheese, and with both red and white meat dishes.
