Profile & Story

Masciarelli Tenute Agricole was established in 1981 by Gianni Masciarelli in San Martino sulla Marrucina (Chieti), and is credited with helping establish modern Abruzzo wine production. The 'Gianni Masciarelli' line, named for Marina Cvetic's tribute to her husband, draws from the Remartello, Passo Cordone and Cocciapazza vineyards near Loreto Aprutino. The Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOC is made from 100% Montepulciano grapes, crushed and macerated in the press for 4-8 hours at low temperature, then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. ABV approximately 13%.

Tasting Notes

Bright cherry-red color of beautiful intensity; an intense, energetic and fruity nose with essence of strawberry, guava, wild rose, cherry and currant; full and round on the palate with lively acidity and a long, fresh finish.

Pairing Recommendation

Soups and fried fish dishes, fresh pasta, seasonal vegetables and pizza.
