Profile & Story
Zenato is a Veneto winery based on Lake Garda (Bardolino/Peschiera del Garda), founded in 1960 by Sergio and Carla Zenato and now run by their children Nadia and Alberto. Alanera IGT Veneto is a modern appassimento-style red: 55% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 10% Corvinone, 5% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, with all grapes given a gentle partial drying before fermentation to concentrate structure and aromatic complexity.
Tasting Notes
A spicy, appassimento-style red with assertive aromas of black pepper, leather and dried plums; smooth and supple in the mouth, with dried fruit, cherry, coffee and tobacco notes, good acidity and delicate tannins.
Pairing Recommendation
Perfect with braised or roasted red meats, game, robust ragùs, and aged Italian cheeses.
