Alta Colina Vineyard & Winery is a family-owned Rhone-focused estate founded in 2003 by Bob and Lynn Tillman on a high-elevation, 130-acre property in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles, reaching up to 1,800 feet in elevation on fractured shale soils. Downslope Red is drawn from the vineyard's lower-altitude, more fertile blocks, where deeper soil produces less-stressed vines and a softer, more immediately approachable style than the estate's structured mountain cuvees. It is a Rhone-style blend built around Syrah and Grenache, intended by the winery as a ready-to-drink, sip-now wine rather than one meant for cellaring.

Enjoyable with grilled chicken tinga or a smoky adobo dish, where its soft red fruit and light spice complement without overpowering.
