Profile & Story
Altesino, based at the historic 15th-century Palazzo Altesi northeast of Montalcino, was a forerunner of the Brunello category's modern era -- introducing the cru concept with Montosoli in 1975 and becoming the first Montalcino estate to use barriques in 1979. Its estate Brunello DOCG shows the winery's classic house style of black cherry, violet, and licorice with firm structure.
