Castello dei Rampolla is a historic biodynamic estate in Panzano in Chianti, farmed organically and biodynamically for decades by the Di Napoli Rampolla family. Sammarco, first produced in 1980, was one of the original Super Tuscans, blending predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Sangiovese and Merlot grown in the estate's Conca d'Oro vineyards. The 2019 vintage leans toward a more austere, structured profile than some other vintages, reflecting the natural concentration of that growing season.
Tasting Notes
Dense black fruit and dried herb aromas give way to a firm, mineral-edged structure built for the cellar. Restaurant's Notes: Black cherry, cassis, plum, tobacco, graphite; powerful core with savory Tuscan herbs.
