Profile & Story
Cervantes Family Vineyards farms a remote, rugged estate in Pope Valley, in the far eastern reaches of Napa Valley, with winemaker Andy Erickson (whose credits include Dalla Valle, Screaming Eagle and Harlan). 'Blacktail,' the estate's proprietary red blend, is crafted to express the wild character of that terroir; the 2021 vintage blends 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Malbec, 11% Petite Sirah, 4% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. It is built for both near-term drinking and decades of cellaring.
Tasting Notes
Wild and expressive, this Pope Valley blend pairs dark fruit with notes of sagebrush and mountain spice for a distinctly rugged Napa character. Restaurant's Notes: Black cherry, blueberry, sagebrush, cocoa nib, and mountain spice; firm yet refined finish.
