Profile & Story

Descendientes de Charles Martínez is a project of the Ruiz Cantú family built to showcase Valle de Ojos Negros, a high-altitude (about 690m) Baja California appellation. The 'Ensamble de la Familia' blends Malbec (40%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) and Shiraz (30%), each variety fermented separately for 7-14 days before 12 months of aging in American oak (half new, half second-use) and a further 6 months resting in bottle. The estate vineyard holds CCOF organic certification, and the wine is overseen by viticulturist Ricardo Michel and enologist Mauricio Ruiz Cantú.

Tasting Notes

A juicy, generously spiced red from Ojos Negros, layered with dark plum and cocoa over a silky, American-oak-kissed frame. Restaurant's Notes: Ripe plum, blackberry, cocoa, and sweet spice; plush mid-palate with a smooth finish.

A natural match for carne asada tacos, birria, or grilled short rib.
