Château Grand Barrail Lamarzelle Figeac is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru estate on the gravel-clay terrace just north-west of the village, facing the celebrated Château Figeac and Cheval Blanc across the road. The property took shape in the late 19th century from three small holdings — Grand Barrail, Lamarzelle, and a plot detached from Château Figeac — and has been owned and run by the Bordeaux négociant house Dourthe since 2005. The vineyard sits on flint-and-gravel soils over a vein of blue clay, with Merlot supplying roundness and Cabernet Franc lending structure and aromatic lift. Note: the restaurant's menu labels this wine "Margaux," but it is in fact a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru estate; the region has been corrected here.
Tasting Notes
Dark and polished, with ripe black cherry and violet aromas framed by a light touch of cedar and graphite. Restaurant's Notes: Red plum, cassis, pencil shavings, tobacco, baking spice; graceful and layered with resolved tannins and a mineral finish.

Pairs beautifully with roast lamb, duck breast, or a rich Bordelaise-style beef dish.
