Profile & Story
Château Laplagnotte-Bellevue is a small, family-run Saint-Émilion Grand Cru estate in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, purchased in 1990 by Claude de Labarre while she was still co-owner and manager of Château Cheval Blanc. Her son Arnaud de Labarre has managed the property since 1996, converting the 5.5-hectare vineyard to organic and later biodynamic farming, certified since 2017. Planted mostly to Merlot with Cabernet Franc, the wine is fermented in temperature-controlled concrete vats and partly aged in new French oak barrels.
Tasting Notes
Ripe and polished, layering black cherry and cassis over graphite and violet with a mineral edge. Restaurant's Notes: Black cherry, plum, violet, cedar, graphite; medium-plus body with polished tannins and a savory mineral line.
Pairing Recommendation
Delicious with pork carnitas or a rich queso fundido with chorizo.
