Profile & Story
Château Larmande is one of the oldest properties in Saint-Émilion, documented in town archives as far back as 1585, and is classified as a Grand Cru Classé of the appellation. Since 1990 the estate has been owned by the AG2R La Mondiale insurance group, whose Right Bank holdings also include Châteaux Soutard and Petit Faurie de Soutard. The 20-hectare vineyard on clay-limestone and sandy soils is vinified in stainless steel and aged 14 to 18 months in French oak barrels and terracotta amphorae, used for about 10% of the blend since 2018, producing a structured yet refined Saint-Émilion.
Tasting Notes
Structured and savory, with cassis and redcurrant framed by cigar box and a long graphite finish. Restaurant's Notes: Cassis, redcurrant, cigar box, bay leaf, licorice; structured yet refined with a long, graphite-tinged finish.
