Domaine Claudie Jobard was founded in Demigny in the 1970s by Claudie's parents -- her father a vine nurseryman, her mother Laurence Billard a winemaker at Joseph Drouhin -- and Claudie took over in 2002, later adding parcels inherited through her mother's Billard family in the Côte d'Or, including this Beaune 1er Cru 'Les Épenottes.' The domaine farms organically, and this bottling comes from a single parcel of ochre, stony soil south of Beaune bordering Pommard, made from two different vine-age groups that together give the wine a consistent personality of ripe fruit aromas and very soft tannins.

Well suited to grilled duck, pork tenderloin, or mushroom risotto.
