Profile & Story

Clos du Val was founded in 1972 in the Stags Leap District by French winemaker Bernard Portet, and its 1972 Cabernet famously placed among California's finest at the 1976 Judgment of Paris. Still family-owned, the estate farms 220 acres across Stags Leap District and Yountville, and the Napa Valley bottling blends in small amounts of Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot for freshness.
