"Saintayme" (sometimes labeled "Saintem," a play on "Saint-Émilion") is Denis Durantou's own Saint-Émilion Grand Cru property, a small plot of old vines in Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse at the appellation's eastern edge that Durantou acquired in the 1980s. Made from nearly 100% Merlot on limestone-clay-gravel soils by the same technical team behind Durantou's celebrated Pomerol estate, Château L'Église-Clinet, Saintayme has long been considered one of Bordeaux's best-value wines. Since Denis Durantou's death in 2020, his daughter Noémie has directed winemaking with cellar master Olivier Gautrat continuing the estate's precise, meticulous style.
