Profile & Story
Founded in the early 1960s by Raymond Usseglio, son of Italian immigrant Francis Usseglio who settled in Châteauneuf-du-Pape in 1931, this domaine is now in its third generation under Raymond's grandson Stéphane. Roughly 24 biodynamically farmed hectares span Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the Côtes du Rhône. The Tradition cuvée blends Grenache with Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Counoise into a rich, spice-driven red.
Tasting Notes
Dense and aromatic, with kirsch-soaked red fruit, garrigue spice, and a silky, generous mouthfeel. Restaurant's Notes: Kirsch, raspberry liqueur, garrigue (thyme/rosemary), white pepper, licorice; plush and generous with fine, powdery tannins.
Pairing Recommendation
Pairs well with duck confit or a spice-rubbed leg of lamb.
