Profile & Story
Weingut Fitz-Ritter is a founding member of Germany's VDP association, farming vineyards in Bad Dürkheim, Pfalz since 1785 and now in its ninth generation under the Fitz family. The Dürkheimer Hochbenn vineyard sits on a south-facing slope with fossil limestone (Muschelkalk) and loess-clay soils that give Riesling grown there both weight and spice alongside bright acidity. The estate has farmed organically since 2009. Note: the exact 2016 vintage bottle photo was unavailable, so the image shown is Fitz-Ritter's Dürkheimer Hochbenn Riesling Spätlese label (a later vintage) — same vineyard and producer.
Tasting Notes
A generous, spicy Pfalz Riesling built on limestone — riper and rounder than its Nahe or Mosel cousins. Restaurant's Notes: Ripe peach, mirabelle, lemon oil, fennel seed, wet stone; dry and generous with rounded acidity and spice.

Pairs nicely with roast chicken, pork schnitzel, or Alsatian-style flammkuchen.
