Profile & Story

Evodia is made by Bodegas San Alejandro, a growers' cooperative founded in 1962 in Calatayud, Aragón, now farming 950 hectares across 1,200 plots for 150 member families. The Garnacha for Evodia is picked from the high-altitude villages of Atea, Acered and Alarba in the Sierra Santa Cruz, planted on slate-and-quartzite soils up to 900 meters — among the highest vineyard sites in Aragón. The wine ferments partly in concrete with whole clusters, then ages split between concrete, used oak barrels and large oak vats, and the 2021 vintage earned 91 points from Robert Parker and a Gold Medal from Decanter.

Tasting Notes

Bright and mineral-driven, with raspberry, sour cherry and a distinct stony edge carried by fresh acidity. Restaurant's Notes: Ripe raspberry, strawberry, violet, white pepper, hint of orange peel; juicy and lifted with soft tannins.

Pairing Recommendation

Complements tacos al pastor, enchiladas, or other dishes with a touch of char and mild heat.
