Profile & Story

Le Sughere di Frassinello is produced by Rocca di Frassinello, a Maremma estate created as a joint venture between Tuscany's Castellare di Castellina and Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), pairing Italian and French winemaking traditions. The wine blends roughly half Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from vineyards near Gavorrano, and by its fifth vintage had already been named to Wine Spectator's Top 100. It is aged partly in new French barriques for about eighteen months.

Tasting Notes

Dark cherry and cocoa notes are framed by firm tannins in this structured Italian-French blend. Restaurant's Notes: Black cherry, cassis, cocoa, cedar, Mediterranean herbs; medium-plus body with firm, polished tannins.

Enjoy with grilled sausages or a hearty tomato-based pasta.
