Profile & Story

Les Gendrines is a Viognier from Pierre Gaillard, a highly regarded northern Rhône grower based near Malleval, farming Viognier planted in the 1980s on granite hillsides bordering Condrieu. It is fermented and aged in cask with no new oak, then held on the lees with bâtonnage for seven to nine months.

Tasting Notes

Sourced as the real Pierre Gaillard Les Gendrines Viognier — floral and apricot-scented with a rich, textured palate; the tasting note on file, however, reads like a red wine and should be rechecked. Restaurant's Notes: Ripe raspberry, plum, garrigue, white pepper, licorice; medium-bodied with supple tannins and a spicy finish.

Pairing Recommendation

If the wine on hand is the true Viognier, it would pair with roast chicken, creamy cheeses, or spiced seafood.
