Profile & Story
Hacienda La Lomita was founded in 2009 by Fernando Pérez Castro in Valle de Guadalupe and has practiced organic viticulture since 2012, one of the few certified-organic wineries in the region. Its 'Tinto de la Hacienda' bottling draws on estate and organically farmed fruit from Valle de Guadalupe and Valle de Ojos Negros; the 2021 vintage is roughly 25% Merlot with the balance Tempranillo. The wine is fermented on skins and seeds in open-top stainless steel and aged 12 months in second- and third-use French oak, and it won Gold at the Mexico International Wine Competition in both 2023 and 2024.
Tasting Notes
Deep and layered, this Baja red blend delivers dark fruit warmed by spice and a whisper of smoke, finishing smooth and food-friendly. Restaurant's Notes: Ripe red and black fruit, baking spice, cocoa, hint of smoke; smooth palate and versatile style.
Pairing Recommendation
Pairs beautifully with grilled carne asada, mole poblano, or smoky chipotle-braised dishes.
