Profile & Story
Ruffino, founded in 1877 in Pontassieve, is one of Tuscany's most historic producers and among the first to invest heavily in Chianti Classico, with over 200 hectares across three estates. Riserva Ducale, produced continuously since 1927, takes its name from the Duke of Aosta, who named Ruffino official supplier to the Italian royal household in 1890; the wine ages a minimum of 12 months in large Slavonian oak casks.
Tasting Notes
A polished, savory Chianti Classico Riserva with bright acidity and a long, spiced finish. Restaurant's Notes: Bright cherry, red currant, violet, dried herbs, a touch of leather; lively acidity, and medium tannins.
