Comboio do Vesuvio is produced by the Symington family at Quinta do Vesuvio, one of the Douro's most historic estates, and takes its name from the railway station that has served the property since 1887. Launched as the estate's third dry red wine, it is deliberately left unoaked to highlight fresh, youthful fruit, blending Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz. It offers a lighter, more approachable counterpoint to the estate's more powerful, barrel-aged Quinta do Vesuvio red.
Tasting Notes
Bright red fruit and violet aromas lead into a fresh, food-friendly palate with a light mineral edge. Restaurant's Notes: Blackberry, black cherry, violets, dark cocoa, graphite; medium-plus body with firm, polished tannins and a schistous mineral edge.
Pairing Recommendation
Good with grilled sausages or a charcuterie board.
