Profile & Story
Tignanello is Marchesi Antinori's pioneering Super Tuscan, first produced from a single vineyard in the heart of Chianti Classico with the 1971 vintage. It was the first Sangiovese-based wine aged in small oak barriques and among the first modern Chianti-area reds to include non-traditional varieties like Cabernet, breaking from the conventions of the time. Grown on limestone- and schist-rich soils at 350-400 meters elevation, it blends Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
Tasting Notes
Ripe cherry and warm spice meet a silky, energetic frame befitting Tignanello's status as a founding Super Tuscan. Restaurant's Notes: Sour cherry, blackcurrant, sweet tobacco, spice box, balsamic hints; silky yet energetic.
