Vivier Wines is helmed by Stephane Vivier, a Burgundy-raised winemaker who has worked in Sonoma and Napa for decades, including as winemaker at HdV. This bottling comes from the historic Gap's Crown Vineyard, planted in 1998 on the western hillside of Sonoma Mountain where cool ocean breezes funnel through the Petaluma Gap; the block sits on rocky, iron-streaked Goulding-Toomes soil at 980-1,180 feet. Gap's Crown is one of the most sought-after Pinot Noir sites in California, also famously used by Kosta Browne, and Vivier ferments with partial whole-cluster inclusion before 18 months in French oak.
