Domaine des Rocs, the ninth estate in the Vignobles Jeanjean collection, farms in the Pic Saint-Loup appellation north of Montpellier under Xavier Jean, continuing six generations of winegrowing history; the domain's name comes from the Occitan 'sauta rocs' ('those who jump over the rocks'). 'Sancto Lupo' rouge blends 60% Syrah with 40% Grenache Noir on calcareous soil, given 12–15 days of maceration with daily pump-overs at controlled temperature and nine months of vat aging; the estate is farmed organically.
Tasting Notes
Deep garnet in color, with aromas of garrigue, licorice and black olive; the palate is silky with good minerality and subtle tannins, finishing long and expressive.
