Franz Hirtzberger is one of the benchmark estates of the Wachau, farming the steep Singerriedel terrace directly behind the winery in Spitz; the family has spent over 20 years rebuilding its historic stone terracing. Smaragd is the ripest, fully-dry classification in the Wachau's three-tier system, and the Singerriedel bottling is widely considered a reference point for Wachau Riesling.
Tasting Notes
A clear, bright, spicy and concentrated nose with delicate honey notes; juicy, refined and elegant on the palate, with plenty of substance and aging potential.
