Weingut Prieler, led by Georg Prieler in Schützen am Gebirge, farms 22 organically-certified hectares on the Schützen Stein hill, between the Leithagebirge foothills and Lake Neusiedl -- a site whose climate is well suited to both the estate's Blaufrankisch and its Burgundian varieties. 'Rose vom Stein' is a brand name rather than a vineyard designation, made almost entirely from Blaufrankisch with a small addition of Merlot.
