Weingut Velich is a small family estate in Apetlon, in the Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel nature reserve on the Hungarian border, and has long been recognized as a leading producer of Austrian Chardonnay under Heinz Velich. 'TO' -- Hungarian for 'lake,' a tribute to nearby Lake Neusiedl -- is a barrel-aged cuvee of Chardonnay with smaller portions of Welschriesling and Sauvignon Blanc from 15-20 year old vines, fermented and aged around 18 months in used small and large wooden barrels on the fine lees.
