La Jota Vineyard Co. is a Howell Mountain, Napa Valley estate established in 1898, at 1,700-1,820 ft elevation. The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot, aged 22 months in oak (84% new), 14.4% ABV.
Tasting Notes
A regal wine with plum, dark licorice and gravelly earth on the nose; blackberry, dark roasted coffee and toasted oak integrate on the palate, with bombastic black currant, black cherry and boysenberry, underlying violets, dark chocolate and tobacco leaf, medium to full-bodied with firm, grainy tannins, finishing long and fragrant.
