Profile & Story
Mt. Brave is a high-altitude (1,800 ft) estate on Mount Veeder in the Mayacamas range, founded in 2007 by the late Jess Jackson and named for the Wappo, "the brave ones," who settled this rugged terrain. Winemaker Chris Carpenter crafts the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon — 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6.5% Cabernet Franc, 3% Merlot, 1.5% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec — aged 22 months in oak, 82% new.
Tasting Notes
Deep garnet-purple in color, with vibrant crème de cassis, baked plums and Morello cherries, layered with sautéed herbs, clove oil, mocha and scorched earth; full-bodied with black and blue fruit, a rock-solid backbone of grainy tannins, and a long, mineral finish.
