Profile & Story

Wente Vineyards is a family-owned winery that has farmed the Arroyo Seco region of Monterey since the early 1960s and was among the first to establish Chardonnay vines in the United States. The Riva Ranch Chardonnay is 99% Chardonnay and 1% Gewürztraminer, 90% barrel fermented in new and second-use French and American oak, put through full malolactic fermentation, and aged sur lie for six months, 14% ABV.

Tasting Notes

Ripe apples, caramelized pineapple and toasted brioche create a rich, complex profile, with creamy oak lending notes of crème brûlée and a buttery richness carrying through a long finish; a supple mouthfeel is balanced by refreshing acidity.

Pairing Recommendation

Pairs well with aged white cheddar and sourdough baguette, lobster tails with clarified butter, smoked chicken quesadillas, or mushroom risotto.
