Profile & Story

Disznókő is a historic Tokaj estate whose namesake vineyard was first recorded in 1413; since AXA Millésimes acquired the property in 1992, it has grouped a series of historic, contiguous vineyards around the winery, modernizing while honoring the region's centuries-old Aszú tradition. This 5 Puttonyos Aszú follows the classic Tokaji method: botrytis-affected Furmint berries are individually selected during harvest, macerated with a base Furmint wine or must, then slowly fermented and aged in Hungarian oak barrels, yielding a luscious dessert wine at the 5 Puttonyos sweetness designation.

Tasting Notes

In the estate's characteristic style, expect a light golden wine shaped by noble botrytis, with layered aromas of stone fruit, apricot, and honey, balanced on the palate by the bright acidity that keeps Disznókő's Aszú wines fresh despite their concentrated sweetness.

Pairing Recommendation

Delicious on its own as a dessert or served chilled as an aperitif with canapés, pâté, or foie gras; it also pairs well with poultry and white meats in creamy sauces, mushroom or seafood risotto, lightly spiced dishes such as Thai green curry chicken, young blue cheeses, and fruit-based desserts like apricot tart or fruit cake.
