Profile & Story
Rozès was founded in Bordeaux in 1855 by Ostende Rozès, a fine-wine merchant who began importing and trading Port wine; his son Edmond Rozès later created the distinctive "Porto Rozès" bottle, wrapped in the old Portuguese style with a wax-sealed cork. Since 1999 Rozès has been part of the Vranken Pommery Monopole group and today exports to more than 40 countries. Its portfolio includes the São Pedro das Águias brand, one of the Douro estates from which Rozès sources its Port. This 10 Year Old Tawny carries beautiful chromatic intensity, with amber and brick hues and predominantly red-orange tones. The wine has earned Gold Medals from Monde Selection (2013, 2002) and Les Citadelles du Vin (2002).
Tasting Notes
Pleasant aromas of dried fruits and figs on the nose, evolving toward spice notes of pepper and cinnamon with a light toasted character; on the palate it achieves a fine balance between freshness and aromatic complexity, with spice and fruit flavours joined by notes of chocolate, closing on a long, persistent finish.
Pairing Recommendation
An excellent sipping wine, pairing beautifully with spiced dishes, chocolate-based desserts, and dried fruits.
