Profile & Story

Ojaleshi (Oh-jah-lesh-ee) is an ancient Megrelian red grape varietal, native to the Samegrelo region and one of the oldest in Georgia. At harvest time, the Ojaleshi grapes are hand-picked and crushed before the skins and juice are placed into qvevri for 30 days of 100% skin contact. This unique wine captivates the senses with profound depth, intense aromas, and complex flavors, making it a sophisticated choice for wine lovers seeking a truly traditional Georgian wine experience. Tasting Notes

Appearance: Deep ruby color that is almost opaque. The qvevri method intensifies the wine’s color, making it visually striking. Aromas: Intense and complex, with dominant notes of ripe dark fruits such as blackberries, cherries, and plums. Additional layers of spice, licorice, and earthy undertones are imparted by the qvevri aging process. Flavors: Full-bodied and rich, featuring a robust palate of dark berries, black cherries, and plums, with hints of chocolate, tobacco, and sweet spices. The wine’s natural tannins and balanced acidity provide a structured and harmonious flavor profile. Texture & Structure: Smooth and velvety, with well-integrated tannins that offer a firm yet refined structure. The qvevri aging process adds complexity and depth to the mouthfeel.
