About the Wine

This natural red wine is made from Saperavi grapes cultivated in the Kindzmarauli PDO of the Kakheti region in Georgia. Following the ancient Georgian traditional method, the wine is fermented in qvevri for 14 days with full skin contact, then aged in qvevri for six additional months before bottling. This wine offers a fresh and lively interpretation of traditional winemaking techniques, creating an exciting and unique experience for the palate. Importer: S&F Wine Imports

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Deep, inky purple. The qvevri method intensifies the wine’s color, making it almost opaque — a reference to its name, meaning “dye.” Aromas: Rich and complex, with dominant notes of dark berries such as blackberry, black cherry, and plum, along with hints of licorice, spices, and earthy undertones from the qvevri aging process. Flavors: Full-bodied and robust, featuring a rich palate of dark fruits, including blackcurrant and blueberry, complemented by notes of chocolate, tobacco, and occasionally a hint of leather. The wine’s natural acidity and tannins provide a balanced structure and depth. Texture & Structure: Smooth and velvety, with well-integrated tannins that provide a firm yet refined structure. The qvevri aging process contributes to a rounded mouthfeel and complexity. Well-balanced with high acidity and firm tannins, making it suitable for aging. The wine’s structure allows it to develop more complex flavors over time.
