Profile & Story

Distilleria Bordiga was founded in 1888 by Cavalier Pietro Bordiga — a passionate herbalist and connoisseur of Alpine botanicals and oriental spices — in Cuneo at the foot of the Cuneo Alps near the Langhe. The Vermouth di Torino PGI Extra Dry is made with fine Piedmontese wines (Moscato Secco, Trebbiano, Cortese), Alpine botanicals still hand-picked in the Cuneo Alps, and exotic spices. Key botanicals include absinthe, linden, coriander, marjoram, fennel, wormwood, china calissaya, cardamom, quassia, Madagascar bourbon vanilla, clove, gentian root, sage, and citrus peels. Production: 40–50 days of infusion and blending, then 15–20 days of cellar rest at ~10 °C; natural filtration only. 18% ABV.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw yellow. Pleasantly intense vinous perfume of wine and spices with slightly floral notes. Dry, decisive taste with balanced acidity, moving from a subtle initial sweetness to a characteristic bitterness.

Pairing Recommendation

Serve at 10–12 °C. Pair with blue and aged cheeses. Suggested cocktail: Piedmont Gibson (3 cl vermouth + 4 cl dry gin).
