Profile & Story

Château Suduiraut is one of the great historic vineyards of Sauternes, classified Premier Cru Classé in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The estate sits in the commune of Preignac, adjacent to Château d'Yquem. 2011 was a year of contrasts — a mild, dry winter and spring led to early vine growth, followed by cool, damp periods alternating with hot weeks. A very fine September allowed grapes to ripen well and botrytis appeared early. Harvest ran October 1–27 in three selective tries. The 2011 cuvée is 93% Sémillon, 7% Sauvignon Blanc, aged 20 months in barrel (45% new oak, 55% one-vintage barrels) and bottled July 16, 2013. Residual sugar 148 g/L; alcohol 13.5%; total acidity 3.5 g/L.

Tasting Notes

Intense golden yellow colour; fresh citrus and stone fruit on the nose. The palate's creaminess is tempered by great freshness, with candied fruit and vanilla. The finish delivers rich, long notes of candied citrus and characteristic freshness.
