Profile & Story

Clos Venturi is a family estate farming 25 hectares biodynamically at the highest-altitude vineyard in Corsica, set on ancient sandstone between two mountain ranges roughly 15 miles from the coast. Jean-Marc and Manu Venturi have farmed biodynamically since 2006 (Demeter certified 2020), maintaining a self-sustaining ecosystem with sheep, horses, chickens, and bees, and integrated permaculture; many vines are worked by horse. "Brama" — Corsican for "sigh," evoking the constant night breeze — is the estate's range of single-parcel, single-variety bottlings of indigenous Corsican grapes. This 100% Carcaghjolu Neru comes from vines planted in 1989 on Miocene sands and sandstones; partial whole-cluster fermentation and aging in oak cask up to 18 months.

Tasting Notes

A suave, light-bodied red with deep color but ethereal weight; pale strawberry, red apple, brambly berries, and sea salt with dusty earth and sagebrush; refreshing mid-palate transitioning to smooth tannins and a finish on minerality and salinity. 12% alcohol.
