La Quintinye Vermouth Royal Extra Dry NV
NV, Charentais, Cognac, France
Profile & Story
La Quintinye Vermouth Royal is named after Jean-Baptiste de La Quintinye, botanist to King Louis XIV and architect of the kitchen gardens at Versailles. It was created by Jean-Sébastien Robicquet — oenologist, master distiller, and founder of Maison Villevert — whose family property in the Charentais vineyards dates to the 16th century. La Quintinye is said to be the first vermouth based on Pineau des Charentes (fresh grape juice mixed with Cognac and aged in French oak), blended with white wines from Southwest France. The Extra Dry is finished with a bouquet of 27 plants and spices. 17% ABV.
