Grand Cru Pfersigberg
Gewürztraminer
Cave de Ribeauvillé
About the Wine
This Gewurztraminer comes from the Grand Cru Pfersigberg, located in Eguisheim near Ribeauvillé. Thanks to its exposure, its distance from the main mass of the Vosges, and the steep slope down to the small town of Eguisheim, this site has a warm microclimate. Stony soils with a lot of Limestone and a bit of chalk give some fine and elegant wines. Grapes are entirely hand harvested. A wine made for aging, and with age, it will gain finesse and complexity. It is recommended to serve between 10 and 12°C, and to carafe it, if possible, one hour before serving to allow aromas to develop.
Tasting Notes
Strong exotics, peppermint aromas, and fruity (notes of lychee). Vigorous at the beginning, with great balance and fresh this Gewurztraminer is a gastronomic wine. It shows a well-structured and long final taste with delicate refreshing bitterness.
Pairing Recommendation
Winemaker recommendation: this Gewurztraminer is a charmer with spicy dishes like Thaï or Indian cuisine (curry). It goes marvelously with strong cheeses, blue cheese, as well as with exquisite desserts.
