About the Wine
Sourced from the acclaimed Lucas & Lewellen Vineyard in the Los Alamos Valley from 40 year old vines, the fruit was barrel fermented, completed malolactic conversion, and was aged for nine months in neutral French oak barrels before bottling. In 2021 the fruit came in a little riper than the last two vintages providing a richer, rounder palate, yet it is still refreshingly crisp. THE NAME: A "forerunner" ahead of his time, Louie Lucas planted 1600 acres of grapes in Santa Barbara County when UC Davis advised against it. For five decades he spread the region's acclaim by providing high quality grapes to wineries throughout California. From his old vine Chenin Blanc we are privileged to make this wine for you to enjoy.
Tasting Notes
A wine of charming fruit character and firm acidity. Aromatics of white peach and honeysuckle segue to a graceful palate of apricot nuances with notes of saffron and white flowers. Match with shellfish, filet of sole, quiche Lorraine, roast pork, or enjoy all by itself.
