About the Wine
Our Red Blend of Mourvedre and Syrah comes from the Templeton Gap District of Paso Robles, California. The vineyards are conventionally farmed with sustainability in mind. The vineyards are relatively cooler climates compared to the rest of Paso Robles due to the Estero Bay marine layer that often spills into the Templeton Gap and commonly received cooling winds mid-afternoon (Winkler Climate Zone 2). The soil is shale, gravely loam, and clay. Harvest is typically early October. We hand pick in the early morning and target brix in the mid 20's. The Mourvedre and Syrah are co-fermented. We foot shred and pump over daily during fermentation with native yeast. The fermented grapes are pressed into neutral French oak barrels and ages sur lie for 15 months. Minimal SO2 used during aging and prior to bottling. We hand bottle without fining or filtering.
